Analysing the issue

Secularness—the biggest challenge

Why are the traditional family values fast eroding? Put differently, why are families increasingly falling apart even in a world that is rapidly becoming a community of some sort? Put in context, why is it that the drama at the beginning repeats itself in a lot of homes today? The answer lies more in our increasing secularness than in any other factor, as shall soon be made clear.

For now

It is helpful to restate the good news that marital problems can be overcome if members put in a sincere effort, for the best solution is only as good as the sacrifices persons within the family are ready, able and willing to make.

It is necessary to break the family into its basic component in order to put in place a practical diagnostic system so that marital ills can be corrected at source. The family is like a football team in a match. In order to be victorious, all departments of the team must work unitedly. The defence must coordinate with midfield, which must, in turn, connect well with strikers, whose job is to deliver the goals.

Father

He is the head of the family. Being the nucleus of the family, all members must rally around him. The traditional role of the father puts him in charge of the family, whether or not he wins the bread or someone else does. True, the father must work hard to provide for his family. He directs persons under his roof and gives them the needed protection. Sad to say, circumstance can be in his way of succeeding in this area. Even so, he must not give up. If he is seen to be making real effort, he will earn the respect of his family. This is noteworthy because the divine arrangement that puts the man at the helms of affairs did not place conditions when it made father the head of the family, as adherents of various religions can confirm.

Has he really failed?

If he fails, the entire family fails.

Family in crises

Family in crisis

The family—the oldest institution on earth—is in crisis. What you read is the dominant atmosphere in many homes today. Father away at work, and mother and son draw sword at each other at home. If this is your situation, take heart.

I like to assure you of two things:

*      You are not alone.

*      You can receive help to succeed.

The purpose of this site is to provide parents like you who want to succeed in building successful families with tools that you can use to succeed.

Make no mistake to think that the foregoing article is typical of mother-and-son situations. I assure you that on the flip side fathers and daughters are breathing down at each other. Bottom line, anybody can be affected. And this site can give you valuables to succeed.

War Within

Last night I was strolling along a quiet street. It was raining heavily and that was the appeal for me. I was burning inside and I thought that strolling in the rain was a great way to cool me down.

I was to take a left turn when I heard screaming out of a nearby flat. The drops pounding heavily on the roof made it difficult to make out the exact words so I inched closer. The words were unclear, but it was obvious that a mother and her son had had fallen out.

The temptation to bang on the door grew stronger as it became clear that someone was yelling for help. The neighbourhood was fast asleep, or so it appeared.

"How can a witch be my mother? How can you be so cruel. Let me go."

"You are a fool from from the black lagoon."

The exchange continued till I succeeded in opening the door, only for a boy of about 11, bleeding all over his head, to run into me for cover. The blow of a white plastic chair landed on my face, sending both me and the lad rolling down the steps.

I woke up from sleep clutching nothing with one hand and blocking off an invisible blow with another.
